INTERNET EXPLORER

If you do not have the Internet Explorer then you can download the latest  version of Microsoft Internet
Explorer either from a CD or by clicking
HERE.

 

 
  1. Click the "Save to Disk" option when the box appears.
  2. To save the file to your Desktop, change the download destination by clicking once on the arrow next to the box named"Save In:" A drop down menu will appear. You can save it anywhere you want usually we save it on the desktop for our convienence. Click it once to highlight it.  This will change the dowload destination. Our location is on the  Desktop and you can also change the name of the Icon. Click Save to begin the download.


  1. Once the file has finished downloading, you will see the IE40.EXE Setup file on your desktop. Double click it to begin the installation program and follow the setup instructions as prompted.
  2. Once the installation is completed, you can use the Internet Explorer browser from the icon saved on the desktop.  

AKUNET CONFIGURATIONS IN INTERNET EXPLORER

If you want to configure the settings of  AKUNET in Internet Explorer then all you have to do is to simply follow the instructions:

  1. Double click on the icon of Internet Explorer.
  2. Click on Next
  3. As shown in the following print screen, select the first option.

  1. Click on Next
  2. The next step of configuration will be to click on the first option that is: Connect using my phone line.

  1. Click Next
  2. Another screen will be displayed showing two options. Click on the first option that is: Create a new dial up connection. The  following print screen will illustrate you further:

  1. Click Next
  2. Type Area code 21 and then the phone number of  AKUNET that  is: 13113111, 13113112 or 13113113. The Country name and code will be Pakistan (92), selected through the dropdown list. Remember to UNCLICK the option: Dial using the area code and country code.

  1. Click Next
  2. In Advanced Settings click on the first option that is: Yes

  1. Click Next
  2. The next screen will be of Connection Type. Click on the first option that is: PPP (Point to Point Protocol)
  3. Click Next

  1. In the Logon Procedure again select the first option that is: I dont need to type anything when logging on.
  2. Click Next

  1. The Connection name indicates the name of an ISP or commonly known as Internet Services Provider.Here, the connection name will be AKUNET.

  1. Click Next
  2. When the next screen will appear, that will display Set Up Your Internet Mail Account, click on the option: Yes

  1. Click Next
  2. After that, the  next screen of the Internet Connection Wizard will be of Your Name where you will type your User ID in the textbox of Display Name.

  1. Click Next
  2. Type in your email address. It will be in the following format: userid@akunet.org (for example, it will be abc@akunet.org)

  1. Click Next
  2. In the Email Server Names screen, choose POP3 server for the Incoming Mail server. The Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server will be: pop.akunet.org. Similarly, the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) server will be smtp.akunet.org.

  1. Click Next
  2. In the next screen of the Internet Mail Logon, click on Log on using..... type your User ID in POP account name and then finally the password that is required  in order to recieve your AKUNET emails.
    Remember the password will be maximum of 8 characters and they should be alpha numeric without any spaces or special characters (like &,_,- or * etc).

    For example it can be as follow: aj789do2.
    The same is the case with the User IDs. The User ID will be maximum of 8 characters without spaces or any symbols. For example, abc is a User ID.

  1. Click on Next
  2. You can type your name, your User ID or any name in the Friendly Name screen. This name will be displayed whenever you want to check your AKUNET emails.

  1. Click Next
  2. In the next screen there will be some information regarding setting up the Internet News Account.
    Currently AKUNET is not offering these services therefore click on the second option that is No.

  1. Click Next
  2. Same will be the option for Internet Directory Services. Currently this service is not being offered by any of the ISPs.

  1. Click again on Next
  2. This ends the configuration of Internet Connection Wizard. Now all you have to do is to click on Finish in order to complete the whole 34- steps Connection Wizard.

  1. Whenever you want to connect on the net the following print screen will be displayed. Here you will have to enter your User ID in the textbox of User Name and the the Password in the password textbox.
  2. Be sure to check the settings.

  1. When you will click on Settings the first screen will be as follows:

  1. Click on Server Types. Unclick any Advanced options as well as on any Allowed network protocols. Only TCP/IP will remain checked.

  1. Click on TCP/IP Settings where you have to select Server assigned IP address and Server assigned name server addresses. The IP hearder compression and the Default gateway will remain checked.

  1. Click on OK.
  2. Lastly, do remember to click on Connect in order to email or surf the Internet! This finally ends up the configurations of AKUNET in Internet Explorer.

SETTING UP THE HOME PAGE

  1. Click the Internet Explorer icon on the desktop once using the RIGHT mouse button. A drop down list will be displayed.
  2. Click on the Properties option.

  1. An Internet Properties window will open up.
  2. Click on the General tab

  1. Here, the "Home Page" is shown where akunet.org! is displayed as the default page.Just click inside the Address textbox and type http://www.akunet.org. This will be your home page.
  2. Then click OK

    Whenever you will be connected on the net AKUNET website will be automatically opened for you!
