How to surf without being disconnected:

Configuration for Windows 98/ Windows Millennium Edition (ME)

  1. Double click on the icon of My Computer located on the Desktop of your PC.
  2. Double click on Dial Up Networking. The print screen is depicted below:


 

  1. In Dial Up Networking, click on the Properties of the dialer of AKUNET
     


 
 

  1. Here you will find four submenus. Click on the second submenus that is, Connection. Now Simply, UNCHECK the option: Disconnect a call idle for more than 30 mins.

  2. Click on Advanced button.

  1. Enable the following by clicking on: User Error Control and Use Flow Control.

  1. Click OK button. Now go to the General option. Here, all the properties of the modem configured in you PC will be shown. The speed of the modem is depicted under the label of Maximum Speed. Click 11500 speed and a drop down field with various speeds of the modem will be displayed. Choose 9600 speed for the modem.

  1. By lowering the speed of the modem it will help you in surfing the internet without being disconnected. Click OK twice and restart your computer so that the configurations are applied.
